Iona ferry, Scotland, 2016
Title: Iona ferry, Scotland, 2016
Print: 8x8" C-type
Paper: Fuji Crystal Archive
"For the islanders, the Iona ferry is a lifeline to the mainland, bringing tourists and pilgrims to the remote island seeking an escape from modern life. The famous monastery, built in the 6th Century AD was the base for the spread of Christianity in Scotland. The isle was then located beside the great western seaway that carried its gospel teaching far and wide. Iona was at the centre of the trade route and was so important that scores of Scottish kings were buried here."
